Popcorn...

Popcorn? Is it still allowed? Can you find something tasty but not covered in dairy filled buttery awfulness?? Yes you can!!! I would like to introduce you to my favorite companion while watching Sex and the City reruns or when wearing my jammies and catching up with The Voice... Act II Kettle corn is sooooo tasty...best part? Microwaveable! Now to get back to my shows....

Fun Brownie Ka-bobs!

Came across something very similar to these on Pinterest except with marshmellows so I just substituted bananas instead...

The brownies are the Namaste Foods gluten free mix and they turned out amazing! They were a little soft (the way I personally prefer them!) so we squished the brownies onto the kabobs but they were eaten so fast it wasn't a problem ;)
You could use whichever fruits you prefer and I loved some fresh blackberries the next time we did these!

Breakfast of Champions?

Well this may not be the healthiest morning breakfast it is a fast one....sadly I took this before adding some sliced bananas which just makes the cereal complete in my humble opinion...
So here's the breakdown (with photos no less!)
Coffee: Usually Tim Hortons or Costco brand....I don't mind a cheap bean at home....lolz. For "creamer" we prefer the Silk Brand Vanilla and I am currently checking online to see about creating my own version as we go through those little containers far to quickly! lolz..
As you can see in the photo they are rather small...especially since caffeine is a crutch I am not willing to give up yet! Maybe when i finish my studies...

The Toast: Hand down the best bread we have come across...freezes well and taste delicious...best of all not crumbly in lunches! In town Thrifty's and Safeway carry it although sometimes only in the freezer section...don't mind the whole grain or white variety but the millet-chia is hands down the most popular in our household!

The Cereal: Sometimes I like splurge and use the Earth's Own vanilla almond milk...sometimes I stick with a basic rice milk but i love the hint of sweetness this brand gives my cereal. I also like using the original or vanilla for my mashed potatoes to give them a nutty or sweet flavor as well...plus helps with the thickness...
(Note: Not shown in the chocolate almond milk by these guys and its ADDICTIVE! Tastes like drinking chocolate covered almonds! Heaven!)
Ahhh Gorilla Munch! How I love you...who says these are just for kidz???!!!??? Not this lady who is addicted to these, the Peanut Panda Puffs and even the occaisional chocolate rice crispie version...

Greg's Amazing Chicken!

This was a thrown together dinner that turned out lovely!
The Chicken: Greg added a bit of garlic infused (Earth's own Soyfree) butter with a touch of oregano to the chicken and then laid a strip of bacon on top. Baked at 400C for about 30 minutes on a broiling pan...
Salad: Store bought Spinach mix. We added slivered almonds, cashews, peanuts, and mandarin orange slices...dressing of your choice although I love Newman's balsamic....
Yam Fries: The lovely ones we picked up at Costco...threw them on a tray and popped into the oven with the chicken for half and hour....

Salmon with Rice and Sweet Potato Fries...

Sadly didn't get an actual photo of our dinner because we all wolfed it down too fast! LOLZ...
Salmon- cooked with a bit of butter, garlic, and soy sauce drizzled on top in a small envelope of foil...30 mins at 350C.
White Jasmin Rice- we cook in a rice cooker to save time/ effort and use a bit of gluten free soy sauce...my favorites are Tamari- GF or China Lily brand.
Sweet Potato Fries- picked these up on a whim at Costco today after they were sampling them...would definitely read the ingredients before buying but the frozen bag I used were GF/DF and we just sprinkled some olive oil before putting them in the oven with the salmon (on a different cookie tray)

These are not my images but are a more artistic re-creation of tonights dinner :)

Introduction

Over a year ago my partner told me that his children and various members of his family (himself included) were going to be checked for food allergies/sensitivities. That in order to test the waters he was going gluten and dairy free for a few months. My first thought was "What the hell can we eat?" because there was no way I was going to keep eating yogurt, ice cream, and waffles while he pined... The next few months involved quite a learning curve! As well as withdrawal effects for both of us as our bodies got used to not eating some of our favorite things...
Now I can only speak from my experience and would reccommend anyone looking at these recipes to talk with a doctor (etc...) before choosing to go dairy/gluten free. For me it has made a world of difference! Although the first few months were tough I found that my aura migraines disappeared, tension headaches went from 6 to 10 a month to maybe one, tummy troubles dissappeared, and I also lost 70 pounds over the course of a year. In total I have lost 110 pounds but that was also a mixture of cutting back calories, stopping from emotionally eating, getting active, and actively working out.
Anyways, getting back to why I making this blog....my partner and I constantly get asked "What CAN you eat?" so we have decided to make this blog as a list of our meals...
Mainly to prove you can eat amazing, healthy, delicious meals without wheat and dairy... this will involve a mixture of eating out photos and dinners we make at home....to begin with SUSHI a favorite!
